If you are reading this, chances are you know first hand that Hot Flashes are one of the most common and annoying of the perimenopause symptoms. They can take you by surprise, they just happen with no warning and seem to take over at inopportune moments. Take heart though, as there are plenty of natural things you can do to help relieve and diminish menopause hot flashes. Acupuncture is one of the best natural ways to find relief from hot flashes. Hot flashes may start to happen in peri menopause (the time period usually after the age of 40 & before your last period) and can continue until after menopause age (The time when you have not had a period for a year). When they stop happening for good varies from woman to woman depending on how your own personal hormones level and balance out during your menopause journey, how well you take of yourself and what action you take (like getting menopause acupuncture, healthy eating, etc).
Hot flashes may occur randomly, once off here and there and be mild or they may happen frequently with great intensity and can cause related perimenopause symptoms such as sweating, red hot flushes in the cheeks (this can feel like a sunburn), palpitations (rapid heart beat) and a feeling of pressure in your head.
Hot flashes can occur during the day and night. If it happens at night, hot flashes may interfere with your ability to get a full and restful night’s sleep. Which in turn may affect your energy, your mood and your ability to concentrate the next day. Some women also experience night sweats which is a similar perimenopause symptom : it is waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat (you may even have to change your pyjama’s because they are soaked), but not necessarily feeling the heat/ hot flash in your face.
There are plenty of natural, effective remedies to cure hot flashes, so if you find the frequency of hot flashes and hot flushes is disruptive to your life, take some action, take back control of your life, I did and it certainly has made all the difference!
You can visit your doctor for blood tests to determine where your hormone levels are at. It can be beneficial to get a baseline scan to determine where you are now so that future tests can be compared to the baseline levels of hormones and you can then see how things progress over time.
